Upcoming Concert: Festive Brass

Mill Creek Colliery Band
“Festive Brass”
Saturday, December 10, 7:30pm

The Mill Creek Colliery Band will celebrate the Christmas season by presenting “Festive Brass“, a concert to be performed on Saturday, December 10 th , 7:30pm, at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral (10035 – 103 Street NW, Edmonton).

Edmonton’s own 28-piece, British-style brass band, under the leadership of guest conductor Lucas Denneboom, is delighted to celebrate the Christmas season by presenting a brassy selection of festive delights. The program will include the exciting Latin rhythms of Latino Fire! (arr. Smith) and Christmas Calypso (Graham), the Afro-Cuban rock gem Zambezi (Carsten/ De Waal, arr. Broadbent), an energetic arrangement of Joy! (arr. Fernie), the theme from the popular Christmas movie The Polar Express (Ballard/Silvestri, arr. Bernaerts) and the meditative A Carol Fantasy (Ball). Our featured soloists will be Alastair Chaplin (Flugel horn) in the groovy classic Under the Boardwalk (Young/Resnick, arr. Harper), the trombone section in the romping Santa’s Little Helpers (Barry), and the tenor horn section in the seasonal favourite The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Pola/Wyle, arr. Van der Velde). As usual, there will be an opportunity for the audience to participate by singing along on a couple of Christmas favorites. Our compère will be Stephen Williams. As usual, the popular door prize draw will be held after the intermission.

We care deeply about our audience. Although there are no mandatory public health measures, masking and spacing is encouraged to reduce risk of sharing the misery of the variety of “bugs” plaguing our community. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be provided. The duration of the concert will be 100-110 minutes and there will be a 20-minute intermission. Parking is available next to the venue.

Come and join the MCCB for a delightful evening of festive music that is sure to enhance your Christmas spirit. This is a concert you will not want to miss!

Tickets are $25 (students/seniors $20). Free admission for those under 18 years.
Tickets are available at the door (cash or credit card accepted), or in advance through TIX ON THE SQUARE [Charge-by-phone 420-1757 or online at www.tixonthesquare.ca]
