Concert Announcement – Brass, Pipes and Drums: In Remembrance

The Mill Creek Colliery Band pays homage to those who served Canada, whether in times of conflict or calm, but ever in the selfless pursuit of freedom, security, service and peace. We invite you to join us for a concert ‘Brass, Pipes and Drums: In Remembrance’ to be performed on Saturday, November 4, 7:30pm, at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral (10035 – 103 Street NW, Edmonton).

Edmonton’s own 28-piece brass band is delighted to welcome back the Clan MacNaughton Pipe Band as its special guest, and together both groups will present an entertaining program of remembrance and tribute. The MCCB musical selections include: Hymn To The Fallen (Williams/Sparke), Songs From The Great War (Fraser), Where Eagles Dare (Goodwin/Blake), French Military March (Saint-Saëns/Hargreaves), Light Cavalry Overture (von Suppé), and Men Of Harlech (Welsh traditional/Wood). Clan MacNaughton Pipe Band will present several pieces and both bands will join together for Valour In Kandahar (Clark/Lamb) and Highland Cathedral (Kord & Roever).

The MCCB will be led by principal conductor, David Hoyt. As usual, the popular door prize draw will be held after the intermission.

Although there are no mandatory public health measures, masking and spacing is encouraged to reduce risk of sharing the misery brought on by the Covid-19 and common cold ‘bugs’. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be provided. The duration of the concert will be 110 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission. As brass and pipe music can be very loud, it is not recommended for children under the age of 6. Parking is available next to the venue.

We hope that you can join the bands for an entertaining evening of music.

Tickets for this concert are $25 (students/seniors $20). Free admission for those 12 and under as well as for those who have served, or currently serve, in the Canadian Armed Forces.

Tickets are available at the door (cash or credit card accepted), or in advance through The Edmonton Arts Council [Charge-by-phone 780-424-2787 or on-line at www.edmontonarts.ca/events]. This year, the Mill Creek Colliery Band is proud to offer subscription tickets for entry to all four main series concerts for one low price of $85 (students/senior $65). Offer only valid until November 4, 2023. See website for details.
