The Mill Creek Colliery Band wishes to celebrate it’s fifth anniversary with you by presenting a brassy salute to the Proms. There will be two performances of our “Proms Celebration” concert: Friday, May 4th, 7:30pm and Saturday, May 5th, 7:30pm, both at Convocation Hall (University of Alberta, Arts Building).

Edmonton's own 28-piece, British-style brass band will celebrate its fifth anniversary music with an exciting concert that will delight all ages. The varied program will include The Kingdom Triumphant (Ball), Gaelforce (Graham), Celebratory Overture (Norbury), The Last Spring (Grieg, arr. Steadman-Allen) and Penny Lane (Lennon/McCartney). Soloists will include Chris Diaper (euphonium) on Brilliante (Graham), Ivan Mast (trombone) on Bolivar (Cook/Ashmore) and David Langor and Dan Skepple (cornet) on Quicksilver (Graham). Of course, the regular Proms favourites - Jerusalem, Pomp and Circumstance, and Fantasy on British Sea Songs will be featured and the audience can sing along with these well-loved tunes. Audience members are encouraged to bring flags, hats, etc. to help set a party atmosphere reminiscent of the Last Night of the Proms.

The band will be led by resident conductor, Dr. Malcolm Forsyth, and Sir Francis Price will be our compére.

The Mill Creek Colliery Band is pleased to kick off its 2006-07 season by presenting “Eine Kleine Brass Musik” , Sunday, November 5th, 3:00 pm, at McDougall United Church (10025 – 101 Street).

Edmonton's own 28-piece British-style brass band invites you to come and enjoy a brassy salute to the classics. The program will include: “First Suite in E-flat” by Holst, “Grand March from Aida” by Verdi, “Magic Flute Overture” by Mozart, “Introduction to the Third Act of Lohengrin” by Wagner, “Canadian Folk Song Suite” by Calvert, and “Jubilee Overture” by Sparke. Matt Clark (euphonium) will be featured in “Auld Lang Syne”, cornetists David Langor and Jonas Feldman in “Quicksilver”, and the tenor horn section in “Serenade for Horns”.

The band will be led by resident conductor Dr. Malcolm Forsyth, and Dr. David Cook will be the compére.

The Mill Creek Colliery Band is pleased to present its holiday concert "Christmas Cheers" on Sunday, December 10th, 3:00 PM, at Convocation Hall in the Arts Building on the University of Alberta campus. The band will repeat the show on Saturday, December 16th at 7:30 PM at the Shell Theatre, Dow Centennial Center in Fort Saskatchewan.

Edmonton's own 28-piece British-style brass band invites you to come and enjoy a brassy salute to the Christmas season. The program will include: “Infant Holy”, an euphonium solo feature performed by Chris Diaper; “Away in a Manger”, a flugelhorn solo feature performed by Fordyce Pier; “An Australian Christmas” suite by William James; and holiday favorites such as “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson and a chance for the audience to sing-along to some classic carols!

The band will be led by resident conductor Dr. Malcolm Forsyth, and Dr. David Cook will be the compère.

Tickets are $17 (students/seniors $13).

2005/2006 Season

Our season finale, 'Proms for Moms', will take place at 7:30pm on May 14, 2006. The venue is the fabulous Winspear Centre for Music in Edmonton. As this date falls on Mother's Day, the band will pay special tribute to mothers, including special music and gifts. The band will be conducted by the well-known British-Canadian composer and conductor, Kevin Norbury. Organist, Jeremy Spurgeon, will join the band as guest soloist on the Davis concert organ.

Music will include Eric Ball's Resurgam, Norman Bearcroft's Songs of Newfoundland, Peter Graham's Shine As the Light, The Flower Duet, and of course the regular Proms features - Jerusalem, Pomp and Circumstance, and Fantasy on British Sea Songs. Our organ soloist will be featured on several pieces. Audience members are encouraged to bring flags etc. to help set an atmosphere reminiscent of the Last Night of the Proms

Tickets are on sale at the Winspear Centre Box Office at (780) 428-1414.
Ticket prices are $25 for adult and $20 for students and seniors.
